Step by Step Guide to Install Artificial

Turf/Grass/Lawn


Step 1: removing existing old grass or weed and level the soil to depth of 8 mm.

Step 2: lay 60 mm of crushed rocks, choose a material that is free of large stones and should be compacted to as smooth as possible.

Step 3:  use a compactor to level the sub-ground. Compactors and additional tools can usually be hired by the day.

Step 4: lay the turf and cut to size, cut one piece at a time. Cut the turf to fit around trees, flowerbeds and landscape islands. This can be done with a Stanley knife with a new blade. Be sure your turf is in the right placement, if not; change it now before using the joining tape.

Step 5: pin perimeters with galvanized turf pins.

Step 6: lay joining tape where required (joins) and pin down using turf pins, use turf adhesive to joining tape stretch out and pull the lawn to remove creases. Once complete, it is a good idea to weigh down the join with bags of sand to ensure it sticks.Use turf pins to secure turf to the joining tape along all joins.Cut excess turf and pin remaining perimeter.

Step 7: use a bristle broom and brush the turf upright.

Step 8: spread dry silica sand across the entire turf and use the broom again to brush the sand into the base of the turf. Make sure you keep the grass fibers upright during this process.

Artificial turf (grass).

7 mm to 12 mm crushed rock.

Joining tape.

150 mm galvanized turf u- pins.

Turf adhesive.

Silica dry sand.
